First Teaser For ‘Delivery Man’: The Man Who Accidentally Fathered 533 Children

What better way to find out if you’re ready for fatherhood, than to find out that you’re already a father hundreds of times over? That’s the premise of Dreamworks’ new comedy, Delivery Man, which is about a middle-aged man facing a rather unusual mid-life crisis.

Vince Vaughn plays David Wozniak, a forty-something underachiever who finds out that, as a result of donations that he made to a sperm clinic over two decades ago, he has unwittingly fathered 533 children, 142 of whom have filed a class action lawsuit in order to find out the identity of their father.┬áThis news comes shortly after David’s girlfriend (Cobie Smulders) tells him that she is pregnant with (though she does not know it) his 534th child, and expects him to step up to the plate and be a responsible parent.

Fandango has just published the first teaser for the film (watch it above), in which David gets the news about his small army of offspring from a visiting attorney, and subsequently seeks advice from a lawyer friend (Chris Pratt) – though the advice he gets isn’t all that helpful. The film is scheduled for a November release, competing directly with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Delivery Man is based on an independent French-Canadian movie called Starbuck, and has the the same writer and director: Ken Scott. The plot doesn’t appear to have changed, so it looks like this is simply an English-language repackaging with bigger stars and a bigger budget. Whether or not these kind of remakes are justifiable is a matter of debate, but it’s not the first time that a director has made the same film all over again to save people the trouble of reading subtitles; Michael Haneke, for example, directed a shot-for-shot US remake of his home-invasion horror Funny Games in the US ten years after filming the original version in Austria.

If the release of Delivery Man brings attention to Starbuck from people who might otherwise not have heard of it, then it will have been worth making. If it turns out to be good in its own right, even better. Both of the scenes in this teaser were pretty funny and the premise of Delivery Man is just fantastic, so this is definitely a comedy to watch out for this year.

Delivery Man is out in theaters on November 22, 2013.

You’ll either have to dock and reequip a webber or bring a
couple of light or moderate drones back with you.

Bobby: It seemed that the acting side of it became more prominent with your work with Tarantino,
was that where this part of your career kicked off
or were you already looking into that before. Not only is the
ability to choose a difficulty level gone, but any sign of a HUD is nowhere to be found.
